Good News
Perhaps you have clicked on the tab out of curiosity asking yourself, "What do these Christian people believe?"
Or maybe you have been investigating Christian Beliefs and are asking the question, "How do I become of follower of Jesus?"
The following summary from a book in the Bible will be very helpful in reminding you of God's heart and His Good News of salvation. The book of Romans is actually a letter written to people in Rome approximately 2000 years ago as the early Christian church was growing. The summary, originally called the "Romans Road" lays out God's plan of salvation through a series of Bible verses from the book of Romans. When arranged in order, these verses form an easy, systematic way of explaining the message of salvation.
The truth from the Bible in the Book of Romans clearly defines:
1. Who needs salvation.
2. Why we need salvation.
3. How God provides salvation.
4. How we receive salvation.
5. The results of salvation.
ROMANS ROAD OF SALVATION
1. Everyone needs salvation because we have all sinned.
Romans 3:10-12, and 23
As the Scriptures say, "No one is righteous-not even one. No one is truly wise; no one is seeking God. All have turned away; all have become useless. No one does good, not a single one." ... For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard." (NLT)
2. The price (or consequence) of sin is death.
Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. (NLT)
3. Jesus Christ died for our sins. Jesus paid the price for our death.
Romans 5:8
But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. (NLT)
4. We receive salvation and eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ.
Romans 10:9-10, and 13
If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved ... For "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." (NLT)
5. Salvation through Jesus Christ brings us into a relationship of peace with God.
Romans 5:1
Therefore, since we have been made right in God's sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. (NLT)
Romans 8:1
So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. (NLT)
Romans 8:38-39
And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow-not even the powers of hell can separate us from God's love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below-indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. (NLT)
Now that you've read through the Romans Road - answer these questions:
1. Who needs salvation?
2. Why do we need God's salvation?
3. How does God provide salvation?
4. How do we receive salvation?
5. What are the results of salvation as you become a follower of Jesus Christ?
What are you waiting for? Chose LIFE!
If you believe these words from the Bible lead to the path of truth and eternal life, you can respond by receiving God's free gift of salvation today. Here's how to take a personal journey down Romans Road:
1. Admit you are a sinner.
2. Understand that as a sinner, you deserve death.
3. Believe Jesus Christ died on the cross to save you from sin and death.
4. Repent by turning from your old life of sin to a new life in Christ.
5. Receive, through faith in Jesus Christ, his free gift of salvation.
You can pray to God in your own words, or if you want some help in knowing what to prayer, pray like this:
Dear Father in heaven, I come to you in the name of Jesus. I confess to You that I am a sinner, and I am sorry for my sins and the selfish life that I have lived; I need your forgiveness.
I believe that Your only begotten Son Jesus shed His blood on the cross and died for my sins, and I now want to turn from my sin. I believe that You raised Jesus from the dead in order that I too might have eternal life in Him.
You said that if we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in our hearts that God raised Him from the dead, we will be saved.
Right now I confess Jesus as the Lord of my life, my heart, and my soul. With my heart, I believe that God raised Jesus from the dead. This very moment I accept Jesus Christ as my own personal Saviour and believe according to His Word, right now I am saved.
Thank You, God, for Your grace which has saved me from my sins. Please transform my life so that I may bring glory and honour to You. Help me know You more and more each day. Give me the heart to love others as You have loved me. Amen.
If you prayed this prayer in true faith and belief that Jesus is both Saviour and Lord, you are a part of God's family. God wants us to be together as brothers and sisters in Christ. The Bible says we are all "members of one body". So we need each other to grow in our walk with the Lord, just as a baby needs help learning to eat and walk and talk.
